Barranco de las Angustias Protected Landscape
Barranco de las Angustias Protected Landscape, is a ravine located among four municipalities: El Paso, Tijarafe, Los Llanos de Aridane and Tazacorte. It shows great proportions, as this is Caldera de Taburiente’s drainage place. Its feature is the emergence of old materials, such as pillow lavas, plutonic and other magmatic rocks. Its hills are especially steep, due to the intense and continuous water erosion activity. They exhibit a great variety of typical and threatened vegetable species on the island, frequently located in really inaccessible areas. This is a quite human landscape where farming and cattle breeding activities as well as water channeling infrastructures are present in the whole environment.
